F97873~ c.1940s Kodak 58x10” Store Film Banner Sign Display Verichrome Box MINT-. DATING – The banner is not dated. I suspect it is from the 1940s. After that, the “Kodak” does not seem to have black letter borders. These seem almost impossible to find anymore, and this one is by far the cleanest example of this banner I have ever seen. DESCRIPTION – I do not think this was ever used in the store. The vividly bright red and yellow fabric banner came from a long-closed camera store and appears never used. Was still partially wrapped in tattered shipping paper. These seem almost impossible to find anymore, and this one is by far the cleanest example of this banner I have ever seen. I have this same banner that was used in the store, and it has some wear with a little color fading. The banner is approximately 58 inches long and 10 inches wide. It has metal reinforced grommet holes for hanging. There are a couple of creases – obviously from storage. One end of the back side has a small bit of soiling – see photos. DATING – The banner is not dated. I suspect it is from the 1940s. Kodak changed their logo in 1935 from a circular design to the landscape “Kodak” incorporating the colors of red and yellow. Looking at old Kodak Verichrome film boxes, the black border lines around each letter seem to be very prominent in the 1930s through 1940s and then seems to disappear after 1954/55. After that, the “Kodak” does not seem to have black letter borders. COMBINED SHIPPING: Before Paying, please request a combined invoice if you want items shipped in the same package.
