Product features ■Make your workflow simpler [Control the flexible functions of TotalMix FX at your fingertips] ARC USB is designed to give you direct access to TotalMix FX's most frequently used operations and commands, making it an essential tool in your daily studio life. The extremely flexible configuration through TotalMix FX simplifies your workflow and greatly improves the usability of the RME interface in most situations. ■USB1.1 that operates stably even on low-spec machines - Natively compatible with Windows and Mac OS X ARC USB is a USB1.1 compatible remote control. It operates as a UAC1 class device and is natively compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. Once recognized by the OS, it will be available for use in TotalMix FX. Coexistence with other remote controls is also possible. This means you don't have to turn ARC USB on or off within TotalMix FX, just connect it to your computer and each button or wheel acts as a control for your TotalMix FX and RME audio interface. ■Can be extended over 20 meters ARC USB is bus-powered, but requires very little current. In addition, the connection is made using USB 1.1, which has been confirmed to operate stably even on low-spec machines. Long USB2 cables with a length of 5 to 10 meters and inexpensive USB2 extension cables tend to cause problems with bus power drive, but with ARC USB, you can use these without any problems. If you need a longer cable, you can use an active USB2 cable (extension/repeater cable) to extend it over 20 meters at a relatively low cost. ■Control multiple interfaces simultaneously ARC USB can control multiple interfaces simultaneously. All you have to do is configure the currently selected audio interface in the TotalMix FX ARC & Key Commands dialog and assign the functions you want to use to each interface. The ARC USB buttons and wheels control each interface according to their assigned settings. There is no need to switch or select the interface you want to operate each time. ■Compatible with standalone mode of Fireface UFX+ and Fireface UFX II Fireface UFX+ and Fireface UFX II are the only RME products that act as USB 1.1 hosts, so only these models can connect ARC USB directly to the interface rather than to a computer. This connection method is especially useful when using UFX in standalone mode. See "Standalone mode" for details. Control TotalMix FX ARC USB allows you to assign over 36 commands to 15 buttons. When shipped from the factory, the ARC USB has key commands already assigned as per the labels under each button, covering most of the frequently used operations in TotalMix FX. ■Customize button, wheel, and foot switch functions Each function can be freely customized on TotalMix. The behavior of each button can be set to push, toggle, or on/off depending on the function to be assigned. In addition, a sticker with all the commands of TotalMix FX printed on it is included in the product package, and you can change the sticker according to your settings. The rotary encoder (wheel) can change parameters such as gain and volume. This can also be changed using TotalMix FX. ■Control multiple functions at the same time It is also possible to run multiple commands at the same time. For example, set Button 1 to Cue Phones 1. This will cause the headphone submix to be output from the main outputs (studio monitors) when button 1 is pressed. Next, set Button 2 to Volume Phones 1 to be able to change the volume of the headphone submix. Now you can output the headphone submix from the main output by pressing Button 1 and Button 2 at the same time, and at the same time change its level (totalMix FX's third fader) using the encoder. ■Connect foot switch A standard footswitch (switch pedal only, not a sustain pedal) can be connected to the 1/4 TS jack on the right side of the unit. Like the 15 buttons, footswitch settings are made in the ARC & Key Commands Settings. Standalone mode (compatible with Fireface UFX + / UFX II) Only Fireface UFX + and Fireface UFX II can be used in standalone mode by connecting the ARC USB to the main unit's USB port. When using ARC USB in standalone mode, you can use preset key commands for each button. ■Standalone ARC Volume mode Disable all buttons. Only the encoder wheel will be active and the main volume can be adjusted. It can be used as a safety measure when UFX+ and UFX II and ARC USB are directly connected and online with the computer. When you are offline (disconnected from your computer, put to sleep, etc.), the UFX switches from online mode to standalone mode, and the functions of the ARC USB buttons also change. This prevents you from unintentionally executing the wrong function. ■Standalone ARC 1s op mode This option executes the programmed function by pressing and holding each button for 1 second. This function is to prevent incorrect operation. This option is recorded in each Setup, so you can turn it on or off for each Setup. This feature is automatically disabled in UFX+ and UFX II by loading a Setup set to Off. ■Standalone ARC normal mode ARC USB normal mode Supported interface details ARC USB can be used with the following RME audio interfaces equipped with TotalMix FX: Compatible models date back to products released in 2001.
