This is a stunning, detailed, vintage piece from Fontanini that features a woman roasting and selling chestnuts with a white cat at her feet. It is done in an old world style. Each Fontanini piece is hand painted and has a patina added. The sculpture has been permanently attached to a beautiful wooden base. This makes for an attractive display piece. It is marked with the vintage Fontanini Spider mark (making this pre-1980's) along with "DEPOSE ITALY 938". Elio Simonetti's signature can also be seen on the base behind the chestnut roaster (see close up photos of these areas). The front appears to read "GALILEO" but I can't make out the first part. This piece, on the wood base, measures approximately 8 1/4 inches tall, 7 7/8 inches long and is about 5 1/8 inches wide. It is made from a polymer resin type material. Sculpture is in good vintage pre-owned condition. There are no nicks, chips, cracks or repairs. Wood base shows light wear.
