To install the hold down first disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and make sure you are wearing rubber gloves and eye protection then remove the old hardware. Now put the J bolts through the appropriate holes, put the washers in place, and thread on the wing nuts about 5 – 10 revolutions, put the hook of the bolt in holes in the battery tray or under the edge, fit the bracket to the battery, adjust the width, and then tighten all the wing nuts.
